CMD Thesis

Playwise

This project is the thesis Ive worked on for 6 months. Its a solo project from a designers perspective. The proces involved researching a chosen topic, researching potential solutions and designing a product. This proces requires regular contact with your audience and constant time investment to realize a product within the provided time span.

Description

My chosen topic was gamemechanics and teaching the younger audience about how it works in a visualised environment. Eventually through rigorous research and user interviews I had discovered a more important audience, that being parents of younger children that play or consume gaming content. With the collabaration of Laurens Veltman from Digital awareness, Femke Hofstede from De Bibliotheek and Bas van Nierop from the Hogeschool van Utrecht Ive been able to complete the research and realize a working final product to inform parents and their young children about game mechanics like micro transactions in a realistically visualised and interactive app.

With the goal of increasing awareness of thr gaming world and its practices. So parent and child can communicate about games and make level headed decisions regarding spending and playing games.
